Amla is a powder obtained from the fruit of the Emblica Officinalis tree. The amla fruit, also known as Indian gooseberry, is an edible fruit extremely rich in vitamin C. It contains 20 times more vitamin C than an orange. Even when dried, it contains tannins that prevent vitamin C loss. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that fights free radicals that cause many chronic diseases such as arthritis, high blood pressure, heart-related problems, Alzheimer's and cancer.
