Description

Curry powder (pronounced că'ri), not to be confused with the food of the same name, is the generic name of a varied mixture of spices. Curry powder was invented by English settlers in India in an attempt to combine the diversity of Indian cuisine into a single mix. Curry powder is currently spread in multiple combinations around the world.

Presentation:
Since there is no single recipe and not even a standard one for this mixture that can contain 10-20 spices, it is difficult to indicate a unique presentation formula. However, turmeric powder is not missing from any curry mixture, the one that gives the color - more or less yellow, depending on the rest of the spices - of this mixture.
Flavor:
Depending on the assortment, the ingredients of the curry mixture are fruity, aromatic or hot.

The taste of curry powder is given by the spices that compose it but also by their proportion. A classic curry powder contains, in addition to turmeric, ginger, nutmeg, cumin, pepper, coriander, pigment and / or fenugreek seeds.
To the above mixture, in some areas of India, add cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne pepper and paprika (paprika).
Thais, Malaysians and Indonesians adapt the curry to their tastes by adding coconut powder, lemon grass and curry leaves.
Other mixtures include vegetable flour to add extra consistency to the curry powder.

Use:

Curry is closely related to rice. Meat, fish and vegetable dishes are also seasoned with curry.
It feels good in the company of okra, root vegetables but also with bananas or mangoes.

Preparation:

Curry powder is added to food from the beginning when it is browned in low fat (vegetable or animal). But be careful not to burn it because it becomes bitter.
After browning, the curry mixture is quenched with vegetable or meat soup. It is especially good when mixed with coconut milk, chili, onion and garlic.
