The original tuna comes from one of the most sustainable tuna fisheries available: hook and longline fishing in the Maldives. Here, the tuna is fished individually with the help of sticks (bamboo), all by hand. And this for over 900 years.

Most of us know the Maldives as a holiday and diving paradise. But few know that fishing, especially tuna fishing, is not the only source of income for the population. Famous and especially popular with environmental groups (and descendants), Maldivian fishermen have become increasingly seduced by the way tuna is caught: manual with hooks and longlines.
