Bergamot comes from a cross between orange and lemon. The essential oil is extracted from the fruits of this tree, native to Bergamo, Italy. Bergamot oil gives Earl Gray tea its distinctive aroma.

Bergamot essential oil has many uses in the cosmetics, food and medical industries. It can be used successfully against mosquitoes and other insects.
