Origin and properties of ingredients:

The main active ingredients in Sonett dishwashers are sodium carbonate, silicates and sugar reactants.

Silicates are obtained by mixing sand with sodium carbonate and due to their alkalinity are able to transform the fat on the vessels by sapunification making it soluble in water. The glued food residues are softened and detached from these silicates. Sodium carbonate, made from ordinary salt and calcium oxide, disperses fat into fine droplets thus supporting the degreasing power of silicates. The addition of small amounts of sugar reactants causes a reduction in the surface tension of the water, so that the dirt is more easily moistened by the water.

Sugar reactants are made from coconut oil and vegetable starch or residual molasses sugar.
In addition, the tablets contain bleaching oxygen (sodium percarbonate). During the washing cycle, sodium percarbonate disintegrates into water, sodium carbonate and oxygen. The oxygen released serves to remove coffee or tea residues from glasses and cups. Sodium percarbonate is a compound created from the uptake of hydrogen peroxide by sodium carbonate.

Citrate, obtained from the fermentation of products containing sugar, e.g. molasses is added to the liquid in the washing machine to form components with calcium oxide in the washing water and to protect the machine from deposits. Due to the fact that, despite built-in ion exchange agents (water softeners), many washing machines still inject water with too much calcium oxide, citrate is intensified by the binding power of calcium oxide by polyasparaginic acid. Polyasparaginic acid, a protein, occurs in nature, e.g. in the mussel and snail shells, where it regulates the growth of the shell.

Polyasparaginic acid is completely biodegradable.
