Tapioca is a flour from the root of the plant Manihot esculenta , known in Romanian as manioc, rich in starch and gluten free. Tapioca flour is sweet, and is used as an alternative to white wheat flour. It is also used successfully as a thickening agent for sauces. It can also be used as a substitute for corn starch, 2 tablespoons of tapioca instead of a tablespoon of corn starch.
